From economics student to your KiwiSaver adviser
Long before I was giving advice, I was a long time investor and economics student - the kind of person who reads the business pages for fun. What struck me was how little engagement most New Zealanders had with their KiwiSaver, compared with how seriously people overseas treat their retirement savings. KiwiSaver is one of the biggest financial decisions most Kiwis will ever make, almost by accident - and yet most people have never had it properly explained to them.
That gap is what led me to get properly qualified. I hold the NZ Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) and I'm a financial adviser. I then spent several years contracting to one of New Zealand's fastest growing and most successful KiwiSaver providers, where my focus was simple: educate people. Time and again, people who told me they understood nothing about investing for their future walked away with real clarity and a plan that made sense to them.
In 2022 I founded Solid Steele KiwiSaver Advice to do that full time, independently, and for free. In 2025 I was awarded Trusted Adviser status by Financial Advice New Zealand, and I've now helped more than 1,300 Kiwis make better decisions about their KiwiSaver - while holding a 5.0 star rating on Google.

What qualifications does Cameron actually hold, and how do I know he's a legitimate financial adviser?
I hold the NZ Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) and am a financial adviser (FSP1010212) working under the Financial Advice Provider licence of Solid Steele Advice Limited (FSP1010211). I hold the Financial Advice NZ Trusted Adviser mark - a professional designation that goes beyond the legal minimum and requires a Level 5 qualification in Financial Services, at least three years' experience giving regulated advice, at least 20 hours of structured professional development each year, an ethics workshop every three years, and professional indemnity insurance. In 2026 I was awarded Platinum tier for KiwiSaver by the Kiwi Adviser Network. Platinum is the network's highest tier.
