Meet the older you
Take a selfie and see what you could look like at 70 to 90. It takes about a minute and it is free.
Future Self needs JavaScript and a camera or a photo. If nothing appears below, try another browser.
1. Take a photo
Owner mode is on for this browser: no photo limit.
What happens to my photo?
You frame the face yourself on this page. Only that square crop is sent, through Solid Steele’s automation service, to Kie.ai, which uses Google’s image model to age it. Solid Steele does not save your photo or the result, and Kie deletes uploaded photos within 24 hours. Future Self is only available in New Zealand. To keep it to two photos per person, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your internet address, never the address itself. Questions: cam@solidsteeleadvice.co.nz.
2. Line up the shot
Fit your face inside the oval, in good light.
3. Check the face
4. Today and later
Ageing the photo. This usually takes 15 to 40 seconds.
An AI illustration for fun and reflection, not a prediction. Closing the page or starting again clears both photos from this page.
Why look at your future self?
Retirement can feel like it belongs to someone else. In a 2011 study in the Journal of Marketing Research, Hal Hershfield and colleagues showed people an age-progressed image of themselves, and those people set aside more for retirement in a savings exercise than people who saw their current photo.
Your KiwiSaver is money for that older person. If you are not sure it is in the right fund, at the right contribution rate, a free KiwiSaver session is a simple first step.
