While I'm always available to answer your KiwiSaver questions, I want to start the year by proactively keeping all my clients up to date with what's going on in the world of KiwiSaver. There's quite a lot just now!
Upcoming changes to KiwiSaver contribution rates. As of 1 April 2026 minimum contributions from BOTH employees and employers goes up to 3.5%. Of course, you can always contribute more as an employee but its great news that employer contributions are going up too. The next planned increase is on 1 April 2028 to 4% BUT there were further policy announcements at the end of last year which could see it going even higher, depending which party forms the next Government.
